My work focuses on the exploration of my Queer and Latina identity. I paint portraits that capture variation in gender expression, identity, and what it means to me to be a lesbian. I am particularly interested in using paintings as a form of storytelling and documenting the mundane.

I love stories, so I strive to tell a narrative through still pieces. I use standard, traditional painting methods to capture movement in a still image. I predominantly paint with oils and acrylics and use flat brushes to make marks. This type of mark-making helps me convey expression and movement for my figures. My past work has focused on portraiture and telling queer stories. My subjects have either been partners or friendships, or just people that I have loved, people that I do love, people that I think of, or people that I miss. Who I love influences and motivates my work.

I am interested in expanding my body of work to capture mundane yet dynamic images of Queer, POC individuals. I want to document normalcy by painting portraits of individuals in their space. While Queer stories can be seen as radical or a spectacle, I think it is important to capture the mundane and calm.
